it can leak and flood house
i put a ground clamp on a galvinized pipe it started to leak . it was rusted from the inside looked perfect from the outside.

First, I would wonder about your insurance company. Galvanized plumbing may be “old school” but is legal and code approved. Sounds like they don’t want to take any chances that they may have to pay a claim. Actually, most companies do not cover damage from a plumbing leak, only floods. Galvanized steel pipes were used for many years. Over time, they corrode from the inside and rust and corrosion build up and reduce the flow. I have owned a number of homes and this question has never come up.

Because thats the stuff they used years ago and its not very reliable and it clogs easily. All you have to do is look at the pipes going into the water heater, if they are copper then there is a 99% chance there is no steel piping in your house. Also, houses built after the 60s dont use that stuff.

Galvanized piping does not last as long as PVC. It will rust and leak and cause damage to your property

guess would be that galvanized plumbing is old hat and since it’s time has passed and steel is corrosive with water it is probably leaks and water damage the insurance company is looking into before selling you a policy.
